David R. Guyer, M.D.
Chairman
Dr. Guyer serves as Chairman and as a member of Danube's Board of Directors. He currently is a Venture Partner at SV Life Sciences. Prior to joining Danube, Dr. Guyer was most recently the CEO, co-founder and a director of Eyetech Pharmaceuticals, Inc., a biopharmaceutical company that specialized in the development and commercialization of novel therapeutics to treat diseases of the eye. There he led the firm through a series of events representative of the life cycle of a venture-backed portfolio company. Eyetech successfully developed and gained FDA approval for Macugen, a product to treat macular degeneration, which Eyetech partnered with Pfizer in a deal valued at over $750 million. Prior to founding Eyetech, Dr. Guyer was Professor and Chairman of the Department of Ophthalmology at the NYU School of Medicine. He received a BSc from Yale College and an MD from Johns Hopkins University.
Barrett Katz, M.D., M.B.A.

Chief Medical Officer
Dr. Katz serves as both CEO and CMO of Danube, and is a member of its Board of Directors. He comes to Danube following a distinguished career in Neurosciences, academic Ophthalmology and industry. He was most recently Chief Medical Officer of Fovea Pharmaceuticals, SA in Paris, France; prior to that he served as Vice President for Medical Affairs and Medical Strategy at Eyetech Pharmaceuticals in New York. There he helped to successfully develop Macugen, a product to treat macular degeneration, which Eyetech partnered with Pfizer in a deal valued at over $750 million. His was previously Professor and Chair of the Department of Ophthalmology at The George Washington University School of Medicine in Washington, DC. In addition, he formulated and sponsored a joint fellowship in Ophthalmic Drug Development, Clinical Trials, and Regulatory Affairs with the FDA and CDER, in Rockville Maryland. Dr. Katz has over 200 publications to his credit, obtained over two dozen research grants, been a visiting professor at over 100 academic sites world-wide, and served in leadership positions within the American Academy of Ophthalmology, the American Ophthalmological Society, the Association of University Professors of Ophthalmology, and the Association for Research in Vision and Ophthalmology. He received his AB from Colgate University, his MD from Case-Western Reserve University School of Medicine, and his MBA from the University of Rochester's Simon School of Business.
Peter M. Kash
Director
Mr. Kash, a co-founder of Danube, currently serves as a member of the Board of Directors of the Company. Mr. Kash is a co-founder and President of Two River Group Holdings, LLC. He has been a Biotechnology Venture Capitalist for 20 years during which he has raised over $800 million and co-founded more than one dozen biopharmaceutical companies in the fields of oncology, cardiovascular disease, diabetes, and Ophthalmology. Mr. Kash is also the President of Riverbank Capital Securities, Inc., a NASD broker-dealer specializing in conducting private placement financings for public and private development stage biotechnology companies. Riverbank has co-placed nearly $180 million since September 2005.
Mr. Kash currently serves as Chairman of the Board of Nile Therapeutics, Inc. (NASDAQ: NLTX) and as a director of Arno Therapeutics, Inc. (LRRI.OB). Mr. Kash was a founding Board member of Intercept Pharmaceuticals, Inc. in Italy. He also serves on the Boards of several not-for-profit organizations including Cancer Schmancer and Keren-Or.
Mr. Kash earned his BS in Management Science from SUNY Binghamton and his MBA in Banking and International Finance from Pace University. He is currently completing his Doctorate of Education. Mr. Kash's first book, Make Your Own Luck, is now available in eight languages worldwide. His second book, Freedom From Disease, written with co-author Dr. Jay Lombard, was released in May of 2008.
Joshua A. Kazam
Director
Mr. Kazam, a co-founder of Danube, currently serves as a member of the Board of Directors of the Company. Mr. Kazam is a co-founder and Partner of Two River Group Holdings, LLC and currently serves as Vice President and Director of Two River's managing member, Two River Group Management, LLC. Mr. Kazam also serves as an Officer and Director of Riverbank Capital Securities. Prior to co-founding Two River, he was employed by a venture capital firm specializing in biotechnology investments from July of 1999 to September of 2004, where he most recently served as Managing Director and was responsible for ongoing operations of venture investments. In addition, Mr. Kazam served as the Director of Investment Management for the Orion Biomedical Fund, a New York based private equity fund focused on biotechnology investments.
Mr. Kazam currently serves on the Board of several public companies, including Nile Therapeutics (NASDAQ: NLTX), Arno Therapeutics (LRRI.OB) and Velcera (VLCR.OB). Mr. Kazam also currently serves as a director of several privately held companies, including Tigris Pharmaceuticals and Cortiva Education.
Mr. Kazam received his degree in entrepreneurial management from the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania and also currently serves as an advisor to the Vagelos Life Sciences program (http://www.upenn.edu/lsm/about.htm).
Paul A. Mieyal, Ph.D.
Director
Dr. Mieyal is a Vice President of Wexford Capital LLC, an SEC registered investment advisor with over $5 billion of assets under management located in Greenwich, CT. Prior to that, he was Vice President in charge of healthcare investments for Wechsler & Co., Inc., a private investment firm and registered broker-dealer. Dr. Mieyal serves as a Director of Nile Therapeutics, Inc., Tigris Pharmaceuticals, Inc., Epiphany Biosciences, Inc., Interventional Spine, Inc., GlobeImmune, Inc. and Microbiogen Pty Ltd. Dr. Mieyal received his PhD in pharmacology from New York Medical College, a BA in chemistry and psychology from Case Western Reserve University, and is a Chartered Financial Analyst.
David M. Tanen
Director
Mr. Tanen, a co-founder of Danube, currently serves as a member of the Board of Directors of the Company. Mr. Tanen co-founded Two River Group Holdings, LLC in September 2004. Prior to that, from 1996 until September 2004, Mr. Tanen was employed by Paramount BioCapital where he co-founded a number of development stage biotechnology companies. In addition, Mr. Tanen was involved in the structuring and creation of alternative investment vehicles. While at Paramount, Mr. Tanen was responsible for drafting and negotiating more than 30 license agreements for the acquisition of novel technologies, as well as structuring and closing Paramount's private placement offerings. Mr. Tanen currently serves as an officer and director of Nile Therapeutics, Inc. (NASDAQ: NLTX) and Arno Therapeutics, Inc., (LRRI.OB) as well as several privately held biotechnology companies. Mr. Tanen received his BA from The George Washington University and his JD from Fordham University School of Law.
Mark Zand
Director
Mr. Zand is a Partner of Wexford Capital LLC, an SEC registered investment advisor with over $5 billion of assets under management located in Greenwich, Connecticut. Prior to that, from 1980-1996, Mr. Zand worked for Merrill Lynch where he attained the position of Managing Director in High Yield/Distressed Securities Trading and Sales, and Sales Manager. From 1976-1980, Mr. Zand worked at Stuart Brothers and E.F. Hutton. He serves on the boards and creditors' committees of a number of private companies in which Wexford has held investments. Mr. Zand holds an APC in finance and an MBA from New York University and a BA with distinction in economics from the University of Michigan.
